12/20/20 - Family Letter

Heyo!

So this week has been really hectic. It was our miny Oquirrh Festthis week. It was a blast. So sum of it, the lunch ladies hate us, we broke to plungers, 2 plungers got stuck on the ceiling (different plungers),everyone is on a sugar rush,  Mark Horner did improv dance to some Christmas songs to raise money, and all the SBO's rolled each other down the halls in tires! So overall it's a very productive week! Also I found out that an 8th grader has a crush on me. We also had our voice/piano recitals this week, I think it went pretty good. oh ya also I don't know if I told you but I made Newsies ! we had our first rehearsal this week it was a booping time! It was practically a big single along. Today we Sang in church. I think we did ok. I also sang in a YW devotional. I'm so thankful that I am able to use my talents for good. So ya this week has been really productive!:) I hope your week has gone great!  I love you , I LOve you, I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- your wacky younger sis,

Eve

I have no idea what just happened. I had a choir concert on Wednesday, two recitals on Saturday, and a musical number today. I am tired. SilverRush ended, and I still have no Idea what the total was. Also, there is a girl in my theatre class named Anna (not Winerstrum) that I'm 80% sure likes me. She's really cute, and I really like her too, so that's cool I guess. Well, as I'm to tired to write any more, I bid you goodnight!

Hectic Hyrum

Millie,

I hope you are settling into the Christmas experience that the Deen can offer. We are in the middle mode of Christmas. We have reached the point that we are sick of Christmas music and are ready to be done for the season.  We had a great Sacrament meeting today.  We had 3 musical numbers and a great talk from Jake Rogers.  Pam shipley sang a song she sang to her grandfather at Christmas time.  The Barlow Vantrappe family gave an acapella offering.  The Koons gave a very simple Silent Night which was amazing.  Hyrum seemed very relieved when it was done.  Overall it went well.

We gave some interesting gifts for the grandparents.  Mom found a nostalgia candy box that selects candies based on the decades.  We got Mom and Dad a box from the 50s and Charlene and Larry a box from the 60s.  I think Mom and Dad had more fun with their box.  It was fun to watch them open the gift and rummage through the many candies available. Mom is going to try and hand deliver a box to Grandpops.  I hope it goes well.

Work is starting to pick up.  I have started asking for help and somewhat forcing people to help me.  This process has been but I'm starting to figure out what I have got myself into.

You picked a perfect Christmas to be a missionary.  You are not missing anything over here.  We are going to attempt to do a virtual Christmas Eve.  Mom has asked us to come up with a talent and we will read a little Luke 2 by Zoom.  This will be a very low key holiday.  There is not much to do or anywhere to go.  We took some small presents to Nate and John's houses.  Mom wanted to show love to those kids so we took a few gifts.  They seemed to be happy we came.

Keep doing the work kid.  Your FC posts are great and uplifting.  It is inspiring to see how you attempt to push the work forward even with the limitations you are currently under.  Keep it going!

Merry Christmas

Dad

Sweet Eve!

I'm so happy that you are serving the Lord as a missionary!  You have such a bright light in your eyes.  The world needs your light because it will help them see Christ!

We sang "Angels We Have Heard on High" 4 part harmony with the 4 of us in Sacrament Meeting today.  I'm thankful we had that opportunity.  You know I'm not exactly confident with my singing so that was a big stretch for me.  I had courage because #1 we did it as an offering, not as a performance, #2 our family can accomplish anything together, #3  I think we sounded pretty good!

It was a really good Sacrament Meeting.  Most of it was musical numbers and then Jake Rogers spoke.  Pam Shipley sang "Away in a Manger" because she said it reminded her of being a little girl and singing it with her sister to their grandfather at Christmas.  The Koon girls and Jillian sang the sweetest version of "Silent Night".  They brought the most tender spirit!  Little Millie kept leaning over to hug Jillian as they sang.  Little children are so special.

We got a lot of compliments on our song.  Some people told us that we could be the next Pentatonix...we just need a beat boxer.  We told them that you would do it!

This week was concert performances at Carden.  Everything went really well.  The students and teachers at Carden have been very generous!  I got so many gifts and gift cards.  I wasn't expecting any because I'm not their homeroom teacher.  My favorite gift was from Kim Bytheway.  She gave me an autographed copy of her husband's book, a really nice candle and a bag of Cadbury chocolate.  I was planning on buying his new book anyway...turns out that Dad bought it for me for Christmas, it just wasn't signed.  Anyway, I was planning on buying other copies of his book to give to my book club friends.  Kim said that I could come over and get them signed.  Should be fun.  They have a daughter your age who just got her mission call.  She helps at Carden sometimes.  It was fun to talk to her about it.  It made me miss you!

Not much going on here.  It doesn't really feel like Christmas, but it's good to be out of school for awhile.  We will be celebrating Joseph Smith's birthday on Wednesday (Dec 23) with a turkey dinner and birthday cake.  Emma and Matt will join us.

I love you so much!  You look so happy in your pictures.  Your eyes sparkle!  I also loved the video about the restoration that you posted. So proud of you!  Keep up the good work!
