12/28/20 - A Merry Mizzle Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I hope you were able to feel loved this week! I'm super sad it's over because people loved light the world! People are so willing to hear about Christ during the season! But here we go onto a new year!

I WAS RECOGNIZED! We went to mutual and one of the yw asked me if I was the "Eve Barlow from Utah" and she told me her family watches the music videos I was in all the time! AH that was so crazy!

The Aberdeen ward made our Christmas unforgettable! They made us a breakfast of gingerbread muffins and hash then they gave us giant red stockings to go pick up our Christmas gifts from the ward. The activity lasted a few hours (mostly driving lol) but I can't get over how thoughtful these people are.  We gave each family a lesson and invitation to #LighttheWorld all year round!

If you want the vibe of Aberdeen go listen to Aberdeen- Avi Kaplan. My sister found it and it is spot on!

We have been pretty lucky not having too bad of weather. On Christmas Eve we got a blizzard but the snow didn't stick. The snow here is so interesting. It's not soft, it's almost like snow cone shaves. It low key hurt. The blizzard lasted all day. 50mph winds and with the wind felt like "-14".  I'm acclimating! We take a walk each morning before the snow gets too deep. One day we took our coats off because we were getting too hot and we checked our weather app and it said it was 18°F! We were visiting a referral and she lived in a trailer park. And no joke, right next to her porch steps was a frozen racoon! It looks like he was dumpster diving and froze! And that is the most South Dakota thing I have ever seen. That night we went and caroled with the elders to some of the people we are teaching. It was freezing but it was so fun!

Now onto our Merry Mizzle Christmas. We dropped the gifts off and then doorbell ditched but no one answered. So we tried again. Imagine all three sisters trying to run away on ice. I'm amazed they didn't hear us. Anyway, they eventually got the gifts. It's so fun playing santa!

We had quite a few devotionals this week and one was with the Bismarck Temple president Brother and Sister Ransom. They talked of the importance of temples but my favorite thing they said was "when everything feels like it is falling apart it is now falling into place". Each day as a missionary I feel like I hit my highest and then will hit my lowest. But I remember I am being molded into what the savior wants me to be.

I am loving it here! If you took my invitation to ask for one thing from heavenly father for Christmas, i would love to hear about it!

Xoxo Sis B
