Dec 7, 2020 - When in Fargo
Well hello my loves! My aplolgies for a late email! We had a chstmas party in Fargo yesterday so we spent the whole day up there! My mileage for the week was only 434, not too bad. It was another great week here in Aberdeen! In order to make our mission baptism goal we are praying for miracles and BOY did the Lord provide!
We are wanting more people to join us for sacrament meeting so we've been inviting everyone and their goldfish to come. I'm still getting use to using Facebook to find people but we trying! I've been messaging people but I keep chickening out inviting them to church. In one of my conversations I decided to full send and invite this woman I was talking to and she ACCEPTED and asked if she could bring her boyfriend!
We met Jay while volunteeting at our thrift store. He's from Chicago and has the most swag I've ever seen. We are teaching him and we invited him to read the BOM and is loving it! He wants to start a Chicago inspired resturant in Aberdeen so we asked him to bring us his best food and the next day he brings us his homemade chick-fa-la chicken sandwhich meal. And BOY WAS THAT GOOD. It was nice not to have spaghetti for a change. He's ellect.
Last night after the devotional we got a call from a woman saying she wanted to learn about our faith and how she's been trying to better herself through christ! We were feeling bold--- and invited her to be baptized on the 25th. She ACCEPTED! Now we just have to go through the lessons... but AH HOW WILD. I hope her intentions are true because we could have a Christmas baptism! If not, the truth will be revealed to her in time.
Sunday was my first fast in the mission. And here, they are legit and do the full 24 hour fast. I honestly didn't think i'd make it because I get the grumps so easily. BUT. The lord gives us strength. I was perfectly pleasent. Through Christ there are miracles! . Haha
The last miracle is that we found someone to bring my cello from utah to sd! Life is so good
We woke up yesterday for the 3 hour drive to Fargo to go celebrate Christmas! Fargo is the Times Square of the Dakotas. They have it gooooood up there. They have a Chick-fa-la and Scheels. We had to stop by Scheels so i could re-live the good ole days hahah. Best decision I made was to have a peppermint shake from chick-fa-la for breakfast. When in Fargo you live it up while you can.
Here in Aberdeen there's not much to do. It makes our pday feel like ages. All the moms here sell DoTerra. Each home you walk into is like a slap of essential oils. They have this store called The Oil Room and it's all oils and bathbombs. They do freshly pressed juices (which are incredible)
But they load us sisters up with oils and chapsticks! Our apartment has a oil difuser so its a lot of fun! If I come home smelling like OnGuard you'll know why.
In South Dakota the winter is supposed to be BRUTAL. All the members are saying that usually by now its -15° with 8in of snow. But this week we didn't wear our coats! Its 50° here! I know this good weather is here for me! It won't last long cuz next week we drop to 20°F but we are counting our blessings.
The Aberdeen Ward spans across 2ish hours of land! The members are so involved here! They are all very country and like their game. Whenever someone returns from a roadtrip they ask if you hit anything while on the road. More often than not if they hit something they'll throw it on the hood and take it home for dinner. They are very unique...but it makes life fun! If I've learned anything is that the gospel is for ALL types of people! The Lord loves his siblings!
Aside from the road kill- I love it here! I'm seeing miracles in a way I never thought I could. Thank you for the prayers! I really felt them this week!
Food for thought:
Humans are the only living thing that can choose for themselves. If the Lord tells a mountain to move, it'll move. Our Agency allows us to learn.
Go Light the World!
