1/4/21 - Happy New Year's Me 🥳

Happy New Year! I hope you were able to end 2020 on a good note! But bring on 2021! It's my full year as a missionary and I'm psyched to be here!

On New Years Me the Mounga family grilled us steak and got us some Martinellies to celebrate! We ate, we watched BOM videos and we were in bed by 10:30! It was a missionary's dream.

We had a fun week! We had a weird storm and it created a nasty fog. It was so thick that driving with brights you could only see a few feet ahead. I'm teaching Sister White how to play piano! (thanks sister pack!)  It's been fun to take a break each day to go practice! I haven't played in so long but when I sat down and played I was playing so much better than EVER! I mean I don't have time to practice, and now I'm sight reading new songs with little mistakes. The lord is blessing me with ease of reading.

and MY CELLO CAME! The bishop in my ward was in Utah for Christmas and my parents dropped it off for them to drive it up here! Little miracles! Also, that in that 14hr drive in the snow- my cello didn't crack or was damaged in any way! The church is right across this giant field from us. We are required to take outside time so even with the fog, Sister White and I walk to church. The fog made everything look like something from a horror movie so one day we BOOKED IT. It made for a laugh because these two sisters are trying to run in this field of snow up to our calfs and are repeatedly slipping and tripping and landing in little piles of ice. But we made it lol.

This is so cool::::: the NDBM had just as many baptisms in 2020 as they have ever had! We had 178 baptisms this year and if we would have gotten one more it would have been a mission record! "No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing!" Covid-19 has nothing on the true gospel of Jesus Christ! 🙌🏼

I was just made aware that my comp Sister Eva White was on Provos Most Eligible 2018... I can only imagine what that episode was like Hhahah😂😂

I had one of the most spiritual experiences this week. My friend, her name is Jana, was scrolling Facebook and then it glitched and brought her to the Referral to the Missionaries page and she referred herself! We went and met her and she saw us pull up and came and welcomed us into her home. We sat down and she began to sob telling us her story. My dear friend Jana has been through some of the hardest things I could ever imagine. She tells us that she wants to completely change her life and when her phone glitched she knew she needed to be changed and healed by Jesus Christ. We start to talk with her and share about the plan for all of God's children and how we can renew ourselves through Christ by repentance. She then asks if she can be baptised. We haven't put her on date yet but she is ready to let God prevail in her life. We gave her a Book of Mormon and she just hugged it and she cried, then we cried. And we all couldn't speak because the spirit was so strong. I'm so excited to see her life be lifted. Jana is so ready to come home. I feel so grateful that the Lord trusts us with her.

I was able to receive a blessing from one of our senior missionaries and I want on record that the power of the priesthood is directly from God. He is our father, we are his children. This week I kept having the thought that I wasn't useful in the Lord's work but through Revelation and through the power of the priesthood I understand more of what my purpose is. This new year we get to focus on D&C which is all Revelation. I have a challenge to all of you that in your personal studies ask to learn how to recognize Revelation.

Being a missionary is the BEST THING I could be doing for myself now. I am learning how to trust the Lord. If you feel like you don't know your Savior, if you want your testimony to grow-GET ON A MISSION! Let the Savior mold you into what he needs you to be!

Love y'all!

xoxo ❤ sister barlow
