3/1/21 - Giddy Up Duck
Well well well.. look what the pheasant dragged in.. jkjkjkj HAPPY P-DAY. It feels like Christmas every Monday morning!
When you grow up you hear all the time on how these missionaries proselyted from door to door in the meer sweat of day and how they fought exhaustion just to bring others to the knowledge of the gospel. It's hard to imagine i'm doing the same thing. But not. It's just different now. Now we wake up at the crack of dawn to exercise and then get straight to work working on facebook messenger and then attend 2hr zoom meetings and planning content to post and then take a quick walk and then get back to it! The only danger I face is my eyes burning from staring at a screen all day!
We had some cool lessons! We met with Nicole and Jana this week. I love this privilege of watching the Lord start building their lives to align with his commandments. Both Nicole and Jana are seeing blessings that they have not had before. The Church is a powerhouse for resources; For and and every person. They are really starting to make it known the resources they have. President Howell sent us a screenshot of an add for "peace in Christ" on Fox News! In these last days we are now sifting through those who are ready to let God prevail in their lives!
We visited Northern State University's Campus with faith to run into someone we could talk to, and the Lord provides! We walked by the welcome desk and there was this cute girl named Christine and we got talking to her and she is SO COOL! We are having a bible study with her this week!
Sister Baird is on the Content Committee with me so we have the privilege of attending a lot of meetings and spending most of our day editing music or editing videos. We had to go buy blue light glasses because our eyes were burning after each day. It's been hard for me to adjust from being a regular facebook proselyting missionary to now working all day on my laptop. We both are either creating videos or sending recording tracks to missionaries. We have to take quite a few breaks in order to keep our sanity. We are allotted 2 hours of outside time a day and I love reliving my childhood love of playgrounds. We found some of those animal toys with springs on the bottom. Hence "Giddy Up Duck". Little blessings!
I love having my cello out here with me! Both my comps are big into classical music and they were showing me all these pieces that I have never heard of before. I brought out my cello and we found sheet music and had a quick jam session! Sister Baird showed me this piece and I cried literal tears. It's so pretty! It's from the opera Rulsaka but it's "Song to the Moon" but played by yo yo ma! Give it a listen!
The work is very different from what missionaries have done in the past. But it is the Lord's work! Whatever we can do to progress in gathering Israel! Anyone else excited for General Conference? 33 days!
Stay grateful! xoxo Sister Barlow
