Another great week! And sadly my last in Aberdeen :(
Cool family history miracle! I found that my second great grandpa was bff's with Jack Dempsey ( Famous Boxer) so I thought it would be cool to post about it and tag my family I'm related through. It just happened that when I tagged them it shared to their feed so their families got to see it as well. A few commented that they never knew anything about their family and I was able to show them FamilySearch!
We had a member baptism this week! We were in charge of filling the font because we live the closest to the church. We then learned that we don't have a key in our possession and the closest person who has one was in Fargo for the day. Problem. But through miracles, we were able to get it open in time to fill. We look in the font and there are NASTY CENTIPEDES covering the floor! ARG IT WAS NASTY. We had to squish all of them and then sanitize it and that took WAY TOO LONG. After rinsing it out we found that the drain wasn't draining and we had to PLUNGE that pipe and then sanitize the whole floor again. Another miracle that we were able to fill the font by the right time. The baptism was great! the little guy was so excited! He told us that when he turned 8 he didn't feel any different, but when he was baptised he finally felt different! So sweet!
We had a long day on Wednesday and after a lesson we left for the church to teach English Connect (sadly no one ever comes but we are faithful) but we got there and made the mature decision to prank the Elders. Sister Baird gets out the camera and Sister Powell and I sneakily roll past the windows and then knock on the front doors. The elders came out and we gave them a good scare. It sounds lame but it made my night! I promise right after we went back to our sacred duties.
I am now learning that public speaking scares the living daylights out of me. I was given the assignment to share ideas on how to use music over facebook in one of our mission wide meetings. I have been preparing the slide show for a while but my companions were very patient in letting me practice with them all week. It wasn't even a big deal. I just was freaking out for no reason. ahahha
We performed in sacrament meeting yesterday! I was on cello, Sister Powell on Piano, and Sister Baird singing! We performed "Savior Redeemer of my Soul". I was grateful for the opportunity! Right after the meeting we were stopped by a few members and they asked US TO COME TEACH A LESSON AHAHHAHA MIRACLE! Make the members come to you!
Saturday night at 9pm they send out a text to remind that transfers calls are being given that night. We waited all the way to 10:30 and just figured we were all staying because we got no call! We all were pleased that we get to stay another 6 weeks! After the content meeting Sunday night we got a call from one of the AP's and gave the apologies that they forgot to call, but also that I am being transferred to BISMARCK! I'll be training again! I'm super excited, but also sad I have to leave my Aberdeen. I'll send my new address next week!
