4/25/21 Family Letter

I'm really sick while writing this, so i'll make it short. I medaled at state for theatre. 69/75 score.

I start chick-fa-La on tuesday, so that's cool too.

I need to get to sleep

I love you

Millie,

It has been a crazy and fun week.  Nothing that involved me but everyone else.  One of the funniest experiences was your Mom's.  She taught her kids a song that we have not heard of before.  She googled it and it was an upbeat song.  Your Mom taught it as such with some cheesy actions.  Crden has normally performed the song as a ballad.  Mom introduced a new way to do things.

Hyrum had a crazy week with his vaccine shot, Chick-Fil-A orientation and State Drama.  He left the Drama competition early and didn't know he medaled until this morning.  He is on a bit of a roll right now.  He starts work this week.  Things should start settling down for him.

Mari has been working all week on her SBO video.  It turned out really well.  She set the video to Peabods "Sweet as Coca Cola".  Emma sent a DM to Peabod and shared the video and he responded.  She is excited.  They watch the video and vote tomorrow.  We had the talk about how to act in victory or defeat.  We hope it goes well for her.

Lauren's wedding went well.  It was a little different to have the ceremony and the sealing on different days but after experiencing it I think that is the way to do it.  Get all the stress out of the way and settle into the sacred with a smaller group.  The whole family was there and no masks in sight except for John's family.  I think Mom is going to want to start having Family Nights again.  In contrast Abbie's reception was a little weird.  Abbie looked great but a bit awkward next to Shark.  Shark's parents seem very nice.  I had never met Abbie's parents before.  Her father seemed distant like he was not in the moment at the reception.  It was weird but they had a great soft ice cream and soft pretzel bar.

We say that the Mission Instagram was doing a live video earlier today but we were too late to watch it.  Your last post was great and had a few people in the Ward talking.  We had Grandma Mildred over for dinner tonight.  Mom and Dad were in Oregon for Lauren's sealing.  She is looking feeble and said the isolation has taken some of her strength.  She is not walking too well but in high spirits.  When we dropped her off she got teary.  I think she really appreciated getting out of the house.

Love you kid.  You are doing a great job.  You are called to your current position for a reason.  I'm excited to see how you grow and what you accomplish.

Love

Dad

Sweet Sister Barlow,🌷🌻🌷

First, I absolutely loved your latest post about miracles.  It is so well-written!  I KNOW President Howell was inspired to have you be an Instagram missionary!  Today in Relief Society, Marnie Thorpe quoted/referred to your miracles post.  It went perfectly with the lesson.

Lauren and Brenden's wedding was great!  Shirlene was totally in her decorating element.  I'm so glad that we are all good at different things.  She created the coolest looking 'chandelier' made from a hula hoop covered in greenery with glass ball lights hanging from it.  She also draped the string-lights with greenery.  Everything else was beautiful too.  Rocky was the ring-bearer.  He was so proud of himself!  Uncle Mark performed the ceremony.  The day after their wedding they flew to Portland, Oregon to be sealed in the temple.  Grandma and Grandpa flew there too, so we had Grandma Mildred over for dinner tonight.  It's always great to be with her!

My new glasses (to wear all the time) came!  It's taken me a few days to get used to them.  They are the granny kind that help me see close up when looking down, and regular when looking up.  At least they don't have the 'bifocal' line in the glass.  They look like regular glasses.  They are rose-pink!  I never thought of getting colored glasses, but the lady at the eye doctor brought them to me to try, and I LOVED them! They match my lipstick!

This week I am filming my classes for our music video "We're All Made of Stars".  I hope we can do it outside, but the weather might be rainy.  This week I also hand out Music Olympic awards.  Some of my students put a lot of effort into their projects...others not so much.

We went to Abbie's reception.  She looked beautiful and very happy.  They served pretzel bites with different dipping sauces (nacho cheese, salsa, frosting) and soft-serve ice cream.  I didn't see Alec.  I wonder how he is doing.  Anyway, I asked Shark's parents about the inspiration behind his name. They laughed and said he was named after a golfer...and "No, we are not marine biologists".

So Joey jumps on my lap whenever I sit/participate in Zoom.  Joey is a frequent visitor to Sunday School and Relief Society.  Today, Bishop told Melissa (and she told me), "Boy, Tiffany sure loves that dog.  She's a real dog person".   Perhaps I am.  I do love that little fluff-boi!  I might order him a Hawaiian summer shirt.  What do you think?

I hope your week goes well.  I'm so proud of you.  I also LOVE the pictures you take that pop up on google photos.  You are as beautiful as ever.

I will continue to pray for you 50x a day...."Pray always that you may come off conqueror; yea that ye may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work."     D&C 10:5
