4/26/21 Huck and Pray

Thanks for joining me today on my journey as Sister Barlow,

The days are long but the weeks are fast, anyone agree?

Being a Bismarck missionary comes with responsibility to take all the finished missionaries to the airport. It's so weird to think that someday my time will go to an end. Anyone ever been to the Bismarck airport before? If you haven't, it's about the size of a single church building. They have dinosaur bones in it and 4ish terminals. It is TINY! The only planes that fly in fit about 20-40 people. It's cute. It's Dakota.

So sad day :( Nickie's family does not want her to be baptized so we are putting that on hold. She loves the Book of Mormon videos though! She gets her blanket and gets all comfy before we  watch them with her.

MOVIE DAY! okay so not really. Wednesday we were asked to spend ALL DAY going through the church media and finding videos/music/art that is useful for our pages. THIS TOOK HOURS. All us content/social media missionaries met in the high council with snacks and we grinded through the longest day of my life. Interesting to find, there are a lot of great music videos that the church produces, but not all of them call to repentance, which means that they don't work for missionary work. Now we know! Also I have learned for myself that Dark Chocolate chips are little morsels of heaven. I am so blessed.

On Thursday we were given the opportunity to go and work on the temple grounds! I LOVE THE BISMARCK TEMPLE! It's about 3/4 the size of Provo City Center Temple. She's tiny but she's cute. I love mulch.. Spreading mulch is my new favorite hobby. We got the news yesterday that all the missionaries will get to go do baptisms before they close for cleaning! I guess they are closing from June to September.... basically my whole mission. But I am so excited to go!

My next music project i'm working on is "I Know He Lives' by David Archuleta and I wrote it for the cello and an alto. We got to record it on Saturday! As I wrote it, I did not even think of the logistics of this song. My first draft: I was jumping all over the fingerboard and it was a mess. Luckly, the missionaries here are inspired by God and Sister Christensen made me a "cello capo" so it would play a note I play constantly, so that's a dub. We found this mesh sticker and put that on my string and tied a ribbon around it. Genius!

I forgot how long recording takes. We were there for a whopping 2.5 hours! That is so much missionary time! But hey,  we were doing it for content so it is alright.

Alright, want to take a guess what "Huck and Pray" means? It's a saying here. Basically it's for large sports where you huck something and pray it goes well. We relate it to messaging on Social Media. You gotta Huck that spiritual message and Pray it is received well. All that we send is confirmed with the Lord. So it's more for our peace of mind. >>>> DC 66:6 Inasmuch as ye can send: send.

I kinda shared it last week but I have been given a new assignment! I am the new chair for Instagram in the NDBM. Every missionary will use Facebook here but only about 40 missionaries have Instagram now. My schedule just got a lot fuller. I was not an Instagram missionary before the calling so I feel very unqualified but I am grateful for this opportunity. For now I will still work with music but as the current instgram chair is leaving this next transfer I still have a few weeks to work on music stuff.

Love you all! Have a great week!

xoxo Sister Barlow
