4/4/21 Family Letter

Sweet Sister Barlow,

It was so great to talk to you today!  I'm sorry we had to cut out early for dinner.  You look really good!  Good luck on your music talk this Thursday.  I can't wait to hear how it goes.  When you can, I'd love to see a picture of your clean apartment.  I would also love to hear more about the personalities of the other missionaries you are working with/around.  How is the work different in Bismarck?  You mentioned there are three wards.  Do you serve all 3?

Our South Carolina trip was great.  It was a very low-key trip.  Other than the bad mattress, I think Dad had a relaxing time. A few highlights:  Caw Caw Nature Preserve/Rice Plantation, Charleston Museum, The Exchange Building/Old Provost Dungeon, cool houses (looked like the ones we saw in Savannah), pretty good food (we still do better...except some Chicken and Waffles with Sorghum syrup).  It was fun talking to you while in Charleston.  It felt like you were there with us!

Conference was great!  I was impressed with a few recurring themes:  Faith in Jesus Christ and Kindness.  I also feel a renewed desire to help our home be even more of a sanctuary from the world.  I also think I need to be more diligent about practicing piano, learning about how Christ ministers to others, and always speaking kindly to and about others...no matter what!  It's good to have goals.

I'm very proud of you and all the good you are doing.

I love you Eve!

Wassa!

Not much has happened since I last wrote. South Carolina was fun, but I got sick there. I apparently need to work on hydrating.I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I think the worst of school is behind me, but it has plenty of time to get worse. I was cast in the center stage showcase play S.P.A.R. I have no Idea what it's about, but that might be fun. Anyway, I need to get some sleep. I blacked out a couple times during conference, and I need to sleep well so I don't do that in school. I also made MDT so that's fun.

Love You!!!

Conference was a blast! On Friday my friends and I had a get together. There we thes two peeps ( who will remain nameless) There boyfriend and girlfriend. 🙄They cuddled the entire time. Other than that annoying bit it was pretty fun! ITS TECH WEEK!!!!!! yay!( sarcastically) It will be good though.

Any way that's all for now deary

Millie,

It was good to hear your voice today.  We are excited to see how to acclimate to your new assignment.  I can;t wait to hear how your talk goes.  It sounds like a great opportunity.  I am confident you will do great.

Charleston was like Savannah light. It was good but it was about 45 min away from everything.  We were on an island of sorts.  Mom got us a place in a gated community.  We had access to a private beach and a community pool.  They offered many other amenities but we were not prepared to pay $100s to experience what they offered. It was not quite the food tour Savannah was.  I had researched a lot of places to eat but they were 45-60 min away.  We settled for some closer options which were not great.   We eventually got downtown and ate at a Southern place.  It was decent.  Hyrum ordered the hamburger (he does not like southern food) and it was not a good experience.  The burger made me sad to look at it.  I think it might have given Hyrum some mild food poisoning. It was very relaxing.  East coast waves so not much to play in.  We found a city called Folly Beach that felt like a California coastal town.  They had a lot of waves but it was very crowded.  We moved on.  Mom made friends with the owner of the place and plans to send them a Book of Mormon.  It felt good to come home.

Conference was amazing.  We did not do any of the traditions we normally do for Conference. We asked the kids and they did not feel a need to build a tent or do the usual things.  Mom forgot to get the baby food.  I was fine with that because I always felt that was a weird one.   Eliza sent us a video of Duncan feeding Sunshine baby food (he ate most of it) and making butter during  a session.  The traditions continue elsewhere.

Love you Sister Barlow.  We have noticed you changing.  It is great to see from our perspective.  Good luck this week.  You have all the tools needed to get the job done.

Love

Dad
