10/31/21 - Family Letter

 Hey Eve!!!!!!!!!!

My auditions went really well! I got callbacks! Round one was on Friday and it went well!!!
Round two is on Monday. One month since closing night. :( Sami slept over this weekend!
Imagination Required came and gave me a welcome package! It was awesome! It contained a contract, the script, a welcome letter, and a necklace that all the other girls have. Its so cool, I'm so excited! AND GUESS WHAT! So in the show I'm the mean girl right and apparently they're casting for a posse. I GET A POSSE!!!!!!! I'm so excited! This is going to make a great learning opportunity! Also I'm going to audition for school of rock over at hale. Doubt I'll make it but it's still fun to audition.
Halloween was interesting. Boys are turds. Me and Sami went over to Cece's early to get ready and we watched a really funny youtuber. Anyway after the entire group got there we took pictures and were off Trick Or Treats. It was good everyone was kind of splitting up which wasn't fun but then we all decided to go back to ceces and eat dinner. The food was really good! It was this rice and ground beef cooked inside a pumpkin. Then we had dry ice in our apple cider. Super fun. Then we went back out for more candy. Kaleb kept saying he was going to bradys( He never left) He was also going ahead and stealing peoples candy bags( definition of turd) Then cece Needed a breather so we laid on the sidewalk in front of a really fancy decorated house. It was kind of nice just to be. Then when we went back up everyone started booking it in an attempt to go back to Cece's house. So we waited for them at a street light. so we could all walk home together. They said they weren't coming so we just started to head home. We got there about the same time. no harm no foul. Then we went downstairs and watched a movie. Kaleb BLASTED music in an attempt to make all the focus turn to him( we all told to be quiet. And then Half way through the movie He said guys we have to rewind it im lost. I know this wasn't very Christ-like but I said something along the lines of Sir if you would just sit your butt and down and pay attention we wouldn't have this problem! I was ticked. Anyway he left at like 8:30. I sent him an apology text because I felt bad. He said it's fine. Anyway, the movie was really fun! AND THEN WE HAD A BLACK OUT IT WAS SOO GOOD!
We played a card game in the dark with flashlights. It was a game " who most likely would.." I got voted the most likely person the group would call if they got put in jail. Adam who is on bad terms with the Barlow family and keeps flirting with Sami throughout the night. I WAS SO SALTY THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. i feel so bad, but it felt good to let my frustration out.
 anyway tata for now
Mari Barlow

Well, I don't know what to write after that...
but here we go!
It was hard to go back to school after fall break, but we got through it. Mamamia is a roller coaster, like all productions are.
Girls' preference was also super fun! We went as phineas and ferb couples. me and my date were Phineas and Isabella, and the other couples were Vanessa and Ferb, Candace and Jeremy, and then Doof and Perry. We carved pumpkins and made cookies for the day date. We had lasagna for dinner with four bottles of Welch's sparkling grape juice. The dance itself was meh. they always are, but we still had fun! Also, some Bingham kids came and ruined it at the last minute. Apperently, they shut doen their dance early by doing stupid stuff, so some of them came over to ours and started to try and crowd surf people. We were all warned repeatedly, and they continued, shutting down the dance ten minutes early. We got theatre credit for helping to clean up, so that's something at least. Then we went to Sienna Wilson's house and played secret hitler while we watched Phineas and Ferb. I was Hitler for the first time in my history of playing that game, but there's a story to tell with it. if you don't know, three people out of eight are chosen to be fachist while the others are liberals. One of the fascists is hitler. The other two fascists know who hitler is, but hitler doesn't know who his fascists are. Sienna wasn't sure she set it up right, so she asked if anyone noticed anything was wrong. no one spoke up. Later in the game, everyone suspected me as a fachist, and since I was Hitler, I was doing everything I could to prove my innocence. When some criteria are met, the current president gets to eliminate a player from the game. So, trying to prove my innocence, I killed Cameron Kunz, another known fachist. After the Liberals won, he revealed that he was the only fachist, and was trying to see if we could win. And we would have, since my sacrificial play won me favor and innocence, but since I had no one left on my team, we lost. To sum it up, I ended up killing the only guy on my team because I thought I had another teammate. fun times.
Anyway, hope you're safe!
Love ya

Sweet Eve,
It was so fun to talk to you today.  Thanks for calling on my birthday!  Today was a great day.  I loved having so many good things going on. (I don't mind meetings...especially talking about missionary work, family history work...and the youth!)  I also really appreciated all the great birthday wishes and gifts from friends around the neighborhood/family.  Great blessing:  Grandpops sent me a birthday text!  I was so surprised and appreciative.

This week I got to go with the oldest YW group to a corn maze.  Those girls are so sweet and kind.  It was delightful to visit with them.  None of them were mean and all were inclusive to everyone, including the leaders.  (Taylor Ludlow, Olivia Nielson, Skyler Wilfert, Dianne Goble, Grace Bird). One highlight from that activity was meeting at Maverick gas station afterwards (for hot chocolate).  While the girls had their chocolate, Grace Bird gave a beautiful lesson about having faith through life even though we don't know what will happen (like the corn maze).  She gave the lesson while we all sat in the parking lot on the side of the Maverick.  As we sat around it had the same beautiful spirit that we feel at Girl's Camp.  It reminded me that any place can be holy, especially when we talk of Christ.   I was really proud of these girls.  This week I get to go with the middle YW group to help with their activity.

Dad and I are taking Mari to Broadway's "Frozen" at the Eccles theater.  (These were tickets from pre-covid...from about 2.5 years ago for Mari's birthday when she was really into "Frozen")  It should still be fun even though she's older now. Lots of friends from the neighborhood are going (Jill, Brittany and daughters) Hyrum is going to "Frozen" with RHS Drama too...different day.

I hope you have a wonderful week.  I am really proud of your positive attitude, even when things go wrong....(like the Elders leaving you a messy apartment).

Around the dinner table we had a wonderful discussion about missionary work because Mari was asking how she could prepare NOW to serve a mission.  Thanks for being such a great example!
I love you!
💜 Mom

Millie,

We hope you have settled in and cleaned the mess the Elder's left when you swapped apartments.  We saw your video and were making our opinions known in a loud way.  We have had a lot going on this week.  We went to Grandpa Barlow's and gave him a blessing.  He was getting surgery on his eye.  The shingles he had on his face impacted his eye and left some scars.  They are hoping the surgery will improve his vision.  So far so good.  He says it has improved his vision and he is healing well.  Matt took me to a Jazz v Nuggets game.  It was fun but I think the live games might be too loud for me.  I will never buy dinner in the stadium again.  We were running late so I suggested we eat at the stadium. $52 later we had a sad excuse for food.  Friday I went to Carden's Halloween Carnival.  It was fun to see Mom in her element with these kids.  She does such a great job.  The kids had very expensive costumes.  It was hard not to try and guess how much money was spent on Halloween for these families.

Mom and I septn Halloween in the driveway.  The weather was great so we took the old TV outside and watched Hocus Pocus and handed out candy.  We normally do not get a lot of Trick or Treaters but we did this year.  Everyone wanted to see what we were watching.  When it died down we took everything inside.  Eventually more kids came and while Mom was giving out candy the dog got out.  We attempted to hunt him down so he did not get run over.  I was ready to shut the door and let him figure it out.  Hyrum had a successful Girl's Pref.  Mari and Sami went to a party and came back, sharing how salty everyone at the party was.  They seemed to have fun but are thinking they need to filter some of the friends out if they can.

Love you kid.  We are excited for your recent changes.  Good luck in your new area. Do your part and good things will happen.

Love,

Dad
