6/14/21 Hang a Roger Aye
Hey Yall!
Funny week! We spent so much time on the road this week. We drove to Gettysburg SD to pick up a sister who would be staying with us for a little bit. It's only about a 5 hour round trip.
It was fun to Sister Powell again! Sister Moore has been staying with us for the week! On the way home we decided to help with some BillionGraves for the few cemeteries they have there. The maps were not very helpful. Google Maps thinks that every dirt road/grass is a real road. So after many attempts to not drive on a grass road we had to. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. We were driving and our maps abruptly said to turn onto more grass so I just kept going and hit a bit of a dip and we got a little air... anyways, tiwi gave me my first reasonably aggressive driving.. but I earned that one. I felt like I was Michael Scott driving in the lake, just maps told him too.... Anyways, We finally found it and it was in a field so I guess there was no going around it.
A few days ago a mosquito bit right under my eye. I woke up Tuesday and my eye was swollen shut. Pic below. I'm fine now but it was funny being in lessons and having little kids just stare at you.
We filmed another music video! This one is for a song I found off of the church's website so copyright free! *wohoo!* The other missionaries in this video were in Fargo so we decided to film at the halfway point in Jamestown. On the way back from Gordon they found a spot and we filmed in this cute field. I was not ready to hike a little bit but if you can imagine me with my cello on my back trying to dodge tree branches for a mile or so, it was a scene. Bless all the elders who went ahead and tried to pull the branches away for me. We get to the destination and its a field of TALL GRASS... cute? I mean, TICK INFESTED. Mom, I'm fine, don't worry. We prayed that the ticks would stay away and I only saw a free crawling around my sheet music on the ground. BIG MIRACLE no one who was there got a tick!
THE BIG BIG MIRACLE! Our dear friend Miley is on date for baptism! We had a lesson with her and the spirit said so so we invited her and Miley asked if she could be baptised this next week! So brothers and sisters, we get to plan a baptism for this Saturday! Miley is a cute daughter from one of our less active families. They are in full support and we are excited for this weekend! This will be my first baptism so please pray for everything to happen the way it should.
We don't get fed too often here in Bismarck, luckily when we do the members show their love. I just want to remember that on my mission I had both steak and salmon on my plate at the same time and I was the blessing of my week. Not to brag...
Our dear Senior missionaries Elder and Sister Cook invited us over for dinner. The first real dinner we've had in weeks hahaha. But they make us sourdough pizza with a rurbard cake for dessert! It was so fun to sit with them and feel their spirits and testimonies. I didn't realise how much I've missed my grandparents!*shout out to Charlene/Larry, g-pops, and Marilyn/ Farrell! I love ya!* I am grateful I was able to get my fix for a little bit.
I had my awakening this week. Both Sister Erdmann and I have been trying to figure out what we can start doing now to be better missionaries. We had a training session on Sunday and I just felt like I was learning so much! I have a bunch of new goals and I am SO EXCITED to use everything they mentioned. I have now sworn to myself that I will never scroll on facebook or instagram ever again. NO STORIES, NO POSTS. nothing. All in keeping me centered on my missionary purpose. So If i don't like or comment on anything you'll know why!
Here in the ND I have just learned of the saying 'Hang a Larry/ Hang a Roger". Interpreted as take a right or take a left. It makes car rides more fun.
I love you all! God is a God of miracles and I am so grateful that we are on the earth at this time!
God is in the details!
