7/25/21 Family Letter
Cheers
I went to Man camp this week, after several long work days. It was a lot of fun, and my archery skills won me twenty bucks from the bishop. He taped a twenty to the bulls-eye of one of the targets, and I managed to spear it. We did other things too, but that and the three hour nap I took after every other guy decided to pull an all-nighter. That felt good. Anyway, that's really my week. next week, well, I work a lot again, but we're going to the cabin at the end of the week, so I have that to look forward to!
Love ya
Hyrum
Aloha Amigo!
GIRLS CAMP WAS A PARTY!!!!
Now all the young women are besties.
I got a bullseye, broke a bow, and shot an arrow into a tree on the same day.
After I broke the bow the worker there ( his name was Tye ) Paid extra attention to me( that's what Amy said)
I pulled an all-nighter!!!! The other people who did it with me were Elizabeth Fisher, Carol, and Lizzy Candland. Lizzy fell asleep.
I drank my hidro full of Mountain Dew. That was fun! We took a two hour nap from 6 am to 8am. Then when we got home I had an Into the Woods call back!
It was so nice to see all my old friends again. Also Eli asked for my number. I don't like him anymore, but I think he likes me.
The cast list came out and I'm Florinda! ( step sister) This is a big deal to get a big part because I am one of the youngest people there!
I'm really happy about that!
I went swimming with Cece and Hailey.
Pioneer day was super fun. Sami slept over that night. Also sister Larson came over to celebrate with the fam! She also did my makeup!
Love You SOOOOOOO much!!!!!!!
Mari Barlow aka favorite younger sister.

Sweet Eve,
We noticed the video and pics you took of the care package that Schery sent. So fun! You look really cute in all those "hick" clothes. We've been praying really hard for you to find a family to teach. We love to hear your updates each week!
Pioneer Day was fun. Emma brought Larson over and she is always so happy and excited about everything. She's a party! We shared pioneer stories around the campfire (it was too hot for the real fire so we made a fake fire with logs and red, yellow, orange tissue paper in the middle of the lawn. Each family shared a personal pioneer story or shared a different one of their choice. Even Larson did some research and found she had a 5th great grandfather who was one of the first to enter the valley in 1847. Impressive! Nate and Eliza & kids acted out the story of the mom who gave up on the trail and then was blessed with a pie. Emma and Matt shared a Langford pioneer story. We shared the story about Mary Ann Hoopes Yearsley and Emma Smith's matching dresses. We had JDawgs for dinner and Matt and Hyrum did a great firework show for us. Dad was the DJ. Good times!
We visited Dad's Cousin, Holly who is in town (from Georgia) to bring her son (Jackson Wysong) to the Provo MTC. Funny that Jackson got called to the Ogden, Utah mission. I still wonder if any of our family will get called to Georgia.
This is the week I get to be Emma Smith for the Tooele Valley Central Stake Girl's Camp. I feel good (but nervous) about my talk. It's very strange but I've been feeling very weighed down and gloomy. I can only think that Satan is trying to bother me. It's a very frustrating feeling. I'm hoping Dad can give me a blessing this week. I need help!
I hope you feel loved. Be safe, wash your hands. Smile and have fun. Enjoy people and their uniqueness. Be a good example and remember whose representative you are.
We love you so much!
MomMillie,
I hope your week was awesome. We had an interesting Camp week. Mari with Girls Camp and Hyruam with Mans Camp. They went to the same location. They bunked in cabins. Since the Ward Trailer was stolen and we no longer have tents they needed a place to have camp and found a place that had cabins and activities. They both were underwhelmed with the place. They fed the kids but not well. They had activities that reminded me of Cub Scout camp. The kids both found success in Archery. Bishop put a $20 bill on the target and Hyrum was the only one to hit it. Mari broke a bow and flirted with the boys running the event until they gave her the bow to take home. They both had fun and were glad they went.
The 24th celebration went well. Emma's mission friend Larson was in town. Hyrum and Matt bought fireworks. Nate and Eliza and their kids came too. Mom pulled out the pioneer costumes and stories. We put the fake fire in the back and told pioneer stories as some were dressed in costumes. Larson really likes costumes. She did Emma and Mari's makeup and they wore costumes and had a photoshoot. There was a lot of posing. We watched the Olympics until it got dark enough to light fireworks. Nobody got Langforded so it went well. There were a lot of the girls taking videos of each other as they reacted to the fireworks. It got a little ridiculous. Larson was very expressive. Hyrum was a little smitten. He told me later he was bumbed Larson was 6 years older than he is.
We have had some vandalism at the Stake Center. Somebody spray painted the fence with some offensive things. The FM group took care of some of it. We called around and found some supplies to get rid of the rest of it. I noticed Sunday morning that we had some more. I came home and changed out of my suit and went back to the church to take care of the 2nd tagging. Mom helped me. The work went quick and we got dressed back in our church clothes and back to church for our meetings. They have had a lot of tagging at churches in our end of the valley. We are now semi-pro paint removers from vinyl fencing.
I'm excited to hear if you have found opportunities to open your mouth, literally. I know FB and IG are great ways to find people but the old fashion ways can yield results also. I know you are being asked to do a lot right now but I'm sure opportunities will present themselves if you are looking for it. Tonight we got a chance to visit with my cousin Holly and her family. Their son is going into the MTC on Wednesday. He was called to the Ogden mission. It was good to chat with them and give Elder Wysong a copy of the Missionary Letter. Jared Medina opened his call and was called to Chile. It was fun to see the beginning process of the mission and think about how far you have come as a missionary. Keep up the good work. Do your part and listen to the Spirit. You will find people who are prepared.
Love,
Dad
