7/26/21 Super Nova
Hey ya'll! We had such a cool week!
We started having exchanges with our dear office Sisters. Sister Murri got to come work with me in the Bismarck 1st ward. Let me tell you, exchange miracles are real! We've been starting this practice where we schedule a miracle each day to keep our minds set on looking for that miracle. We had to move our schedule around and it moved our miracle to 4:15pm. Not a big deal right? Well we were working hard on facebook and right at 4:15pm, Sister Murri gets a response from a lady she messaged months ago! They had a really great conversation that was all gospel centered! MIRACLE!
Germans From Russia: Heritage Society.
I guess these Germans from Russia have a few yearly conventions and this year it was in Bismarck. We were lucky and got to go volunteer and register people. Have you ever heard of a heritage society? Neither have I. Let me paint you a picture. You walk into this old 1955 Hotel and there's flags everywhere. Each flag represents a family crest. Our dear older friends wait patiently in a line to get their orientation packet and nametag as they load all their German/Russian artifacts to the rooms. And throughout their convention they go to different break out rooms to learn different things about their heritage. They had a Dinner, Dance, and coffee+kuchen break. Basically it was a giant family history heritage day. It was so fun!
Later that same day we had the opportunity to go teach our friend Karen. I found her on facebook and after chatting I found that she had met with the Sisters many months ago. We met at Fizzily, the only soda shop in Bismarck, and to our surprise. She brought Nova! Her BFF, her bearded Dragon. I'm not against scaly animals but I will not willingly touch it k? Well no, We sat with her and Nova and Nova got so excited that they started crawling all over Karen. She went on her back and Karen asked me to grab her and AHHH It was such a moment of panic! It took every ounce of courage to pick up that beast from her back before she jumped off. Luckily Nova is very sweet and a lot softer than expected. We then had our lesson and she invited herself to church! We are going to start teaching her. We had a ward picnic on that Saturday, She brought Nova and the whole ward welcomed her with open arms! There is nothing that makes my heart sing more than when our members help our investigators. I feel like a proud mom.
We had a few lessons with Nicole. We had the prompting to invite a certain member of our ward to join us and we are so glad we obeyed it! We've been meeting with Nicole for a month or so but have not had the rull restoration lesson yet. Our dear ward members just bore testimony and the spirit was there and for the first time I could see that Nicole felt it too! No effort is wasted, is what i'm learning.
That night we got a text from her and she named her new pet Betta after me AHHAHAHHA. I have posterity.
We had a dinner with the Smiths and with Miley's family! Brother Smith was the one who baptized Miley about a month ago. But they planned it all and we were invited! AH it makes me so happy to see our members just embrace these people who are in new territories. The Smith kids were so awesome for Miley and her brother. They included them as much as they could!
Many of you have probably heard about the 2 missionaries who died this past week. One of them was from Miles City, Montanna, an area in our mission. Please keep those families in your prayers. We just arranged for a group of missionaries from the NDBM to go and sing at the funeral. The Lord has a plan, even though we may not know why.
I love the Book of Mormon! I have recently been studying through Helaman 5-8 I love how Nephi wishes to be part of a time he was not in, but then reminds himself that this is his battle to help his people repent. He gives such a rallying cry! That would have been so cool to witness! I love in Helaman 5 how he shares how repentance is action and how both Nephi and Lehi are chosen servants and are saved from prison! I have never given this story much thought, but I know that this book is true. Miracles happen for those who wish to assist the Lord in his work! I feel so lucky to be on the front row of watching conversion happen.
Now this is a story. Remember a few weeks ago when I said that I was going to stop fighting it and become a hick? Well I am well supplied now. I got a package from the Walter family labeled "How-to-Hick" with all the clothes, belts, and boots I would ever need to fulfill my new calling as a country girl. hahahahha YEEHAW
God is so good. Jesus Christ lives! Pray for missionary opportunities!
