9/12/21 Family Letter

 Sweet Eve,

We are driving down to Provo for Sunshine’s baby blessing right now. They decided to have it at night in their house. They are having a BBQ after but we are leaving right after so we can have some relaxing time.

The BYU vs Utah game was really good yesterday. We won!!!! I’m sure Dad will tell you more about it.

School was good. 1st week done! My orchestra advertisements went out yesterday. I hope there is a good response..

Mari’s show is going well. Costumes are almost done. Whoot whoot!

I went to my first YW board meeting today. It’s so good to be doing something like that again! Huge blessing! I’ll be over Temple and Family History work.

We loved your recent pictures, especially the alien ones. Your video was so funny…”beep, boop, meep…” with dancing! You have the cutest personality!

I hope your week goes well!  We miss you so much. We are proud of you!

Hi Eve! This week has been really crazy. I’m so sad we didn’t get to talk to you last Monday. Hopefully I’ll be able at least to say hi on Monday. Rehearsals have been going really well! It has been really fun! I love all the directors and cast members. I have had rehearsals almost every day this week. On Friday I hanged out with Cece all day! It was really fun! Then Saturday was CRAZY! I had to leave for rehearsal at 8:30, then at 9:45 I had to leave for a callback for a YouTube show channel thing. I think I have a good chance of getting in. Then I had to leave my call back at 12:30 because of a master class at 1. I got some really good feed back with the girl who came in and helped us. We left that at 3:30 and got home at 4. And wait there’s more! At 5 we went to go drop off ribs at grandparents house and didn’t get home till 6. Cece was waiting during that time( I invited her to watch the BYU game at our house. AND GUESS WHAT!!!! WE WON!!! We all missed you so much this week! Anyway tech week starts at the end of this week. Wish me luck!!!
Love you! - Mari Barlow aka your favorite younger sister

Hello my friend
what a week! (what happened this week?) um, ok, monday. I don't know. Ok, I had auditions for Mamamia this week and it was...interesting. The singing audition was on the same day as my first solo performance in MDT and  my shakespeare preview. so I was very busy. the dance audition the next day was hard and exhausting. But fun. I only made ensemble and I didn't even make the Shakespeare team this year. but whatever. Love you!

Millie,

Your pictures and videos are cracking us up.  It looks like you are having the fun expected of being on a mission.

BYU beat Utah last night.  It wasn't a close game.  BYU would have hammered Utah last year but this year it was questionable.  All the TV people were saying that Utah would win big.  It did not feel like going to the game.  It was a late kick and we would not get home until 1:00 AM.  I have finally realized that I'm the only sports fan in the family and I did not have the heart to drag the whole family down to Provo for the late game.  I have the tickets to John and Angie.  Angie had complained for years that she never gets invited to the rivalry game in Provo.  This was her year.  BYU also got an invite to the Big 12 Conference so independence is over in a few years.  It was a big weekend for BYU.  We changed our TV provider so we can't keep games forever.  We can keep them for 9 months.  I will save the game in case you decide you want to watch it when you get home.  BYU is playing Arizona State this next weekend.  That is where the cHandler's went to school.  We have invited them to come with us.

We were able to go to an exhibit of a life size replica of an Old Testament tabernacle.  A traveling ministry with the Seventh Day Adventists travels the nation with the life size tabernacle.  It was a very cool experience.  We talked about the different sacrifices made in the tabernacle, the colors used for the barrier at the tabernacle gate, what happens in the Holy of Holies and what clothes the priests wore while administering in the tabernacle.  There were some parts of the tour that would have benefited from some inspired revelation but overall it was very cool.

The house has become consumed by auditions and rehearsals.  Mom is now neck deep with the costumes with the Herriman play.  We get Amazon deliveries almost every day with costumes or accessories.  I don't think Mom will be helping out next year.  We have racked up some miles between here and Herriman.  Hyrum has started auditions and rehearsals for the High School musical.  He is starting to fit in with the MDT and Choir kids.  I feel like I don't have much to do so I try to help where I can and harvest as much fruit as possible.  The nectarines are awesome and we once again have more plums than we can handle.

This facilities assignment might be the death of me.  We don't have anyone spray painting the fence any more but we did have someone drop off their unwanted large can of paint stacked up next to the dumpster.  Most of the cans had paint in them.  We reported it to the police and asked for instructions on what to do with the paint.  Since then someone threw the paint all over the area where the dumpster is.  I don't understand why people do what they do.  Someone gets a really fun cleanup opportunity.  Not it.

We keep praying that you will find families to teach.  We were excited when you found the families you have.  I'm sure more are on the way.  Good luck kid!

Love,

Dad
