9/20/21 Outlawed Thin Mints

 Happy Monday!

Earlier this week I had to say a lot of really sad goodbyes :( I love the Bismarck 1st ward! They have been so awesome to me the 5 months I've been with them!

It was very chaotic the beginning days of this week. We had the new missionaries staying with us and both Sister Erdmann and I had to pack and we had to prep our area ready to be pinkwashed (both missionaries in companionship are new to the area). So it was a bit crazy, but the Lord really looked out for us and made it a fun time! Needless to say, it all worked out!

Wednesday was transfer day! Some of our favorite ward members wanted to take us to brunch since the rest of the ward signed up for our last dinners. We ate at Krolls (German version of Jim's) and there were some tears involved. I love love love this ward. But right after we left for the church to hop on the caravan down to Rapid City. From Bismarck to Rapid City with a stop in the middle at Dickinson, it took about 7 hours for us to get there. I was driving the Sienna Van with the Sisters, followed by our T-Van and another Equinox both full of Elders. I get asked all the time how I stay awake when we drive, but the real reason is that when you caravan with missionaries you find things to keep you entertained. This transfers' game was "Waving" (the front car would activate their back windshield wiper and then the car behind it would activate their front wipers, so you're just waving back and forth) And yes, we did that for 7 hours.
We arrived at the Rapid City Stake Center around 7:30 MDT (I was in CRT back in Bismarck) and we then left for our areas!

I am now comps with Sister Martin from Mesa Arizona! I'm finishing up her training here but she is already such a diligent missionary!

Saturday Morning we attended the Stake Relief Society activity and got to meet a few members there. We both then had the feeling to go to the Dinosaur Park so we left the activity and drove to the park. We had NO IDEA why we were there but we decided to start by passing out some stickers. We met a few families and they asked about our missionary work and we got to answer some of their questions about that, but then they had to leave, and this happened multiple times. After about an hour we both felt like we were there for what we were needed for and left. I wish I had a cool story on how it ended. But I guess we will never know.

We had Dinner with one of our members last night and as we got talking I realized we made a video of them and their Native Hoop Dance: Linked Here: https://www.facebook.com/WalkwithChristBlackHills/videos/982533018920641
GO WATCH IT! They did such a great job!

Now the subject line. I walked into sacrament meeting and one of the members introduced herself and told me that I have Outlaw blood, and that "a Barlow may survive here" So wish me luck! Bismarck was full of more country folk, but Rapid City is straightway Cowboys & Indians!
and the Thin Mints... When you move into a new apartment your food is whatever the last set of missionaries left. In this apartment they have nearly 10 boxes of ThinMints and we have been eating them for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. I'm going shopping today so no need to worry mom!

I love Rapid City though! It has a vibe between a mix of Park City and St. George. But it's so pretty! I have missed forests! I'm so lucky to be here while the leaves change! Go pray for missionary opportunities!

I hope to write more miracles in my next email, transfer week is always a game of catch-up!
Love you all though!
