Sup
it was homecoming week, and also one of the longest weeks of my life.
Monday was pretty normal, but it was calm before the storm. Tuesday was the homecoming assembly. Two performances of the school hymn, two performances of MDT's Into the Unknown dance, a solo performance of Empty Chairs and Empty Tables in MDT, a Shakespeare scene in theatre 3, and the Madrigal's Ice Cream Sing Thing that night. yeah, it was a lot. The rest of the week was more or less the same, with rehearsal for Mamamia and preparations for homecoming. Then Saturday was the homecoming dance! You already know I took Grace Bird, and our group was super fun! We went to Labyrinth for our day date (a place with a large amount of escape rooms), and had a fun time solving puzzles and doing obstacle courses. Pictures took about 90 minutes but they turned out great. We did dinner in our basement again, and they all said it was one of the highlights of the night! The dance itself was fun, but not really much to say about it. The after party at Dallin Curtis's house with ice cream and jackbox games was fun and relaxing too! All together a good night. Anyway, I can't wait to hear from you tomorrow! Love you!

HIYA!!!!!!
I just broke into my Bff's house! It was fun! I baked her a cake for her birthday, gave her a really cute sweater, and gave her a Wand. I ran into her house and ran out real quick.:) Anyway this week was performance week! Opening night was so much fun! The second night something was off with me, but then last night was so much fun! Closing night is tomorrow. I'm really excited! The guy I like in the cast is Miles(Role of Jack) . I think he likes me but I'm not sure1 Trevor stayed over for three days which was really fun! I LOVE THEATER SO MUCH!! IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!!! YAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAYYYYAAYYAAYYAY AYAYAYAYAYAY! The cast is so fun! I hope you had an amazing week! I love you so much!!!!!
Your favorite younger sister! Mari ;)
Millie,
We saw the pictures of your breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa. It looks like that went well. I hope the place I scouted for you was OK. It must be hard to pick a place to eat when you are new to the area.
Hyrum had another successful Homecoming. We fed the kids dinner in the basement. It was a crazy Saturday. We had Hyrum's Homecoming dinner, Mari's "Into The Woods" play, Stake Conference and a BYU Football game all at the same time. We went to the Leadership meeting for Stake Conference and hurried home to make dinner for the kids. We did Chicken Courdon Bleu from Costco. It was an easy dinner but the timing was a challenge. We had dinner ready but they took almost 1.5 hours to take pictures. They did pictures in the front yard instead at the dead end and just kept taking the pictures. Tiffany had to take Mari and Trevor (Trevor spent the weekend with us) to the play while I ended up running the food down stairs. We had planned for Mari and Trevor to help but the pictures took too long. In my haste I forgot to turn down the rice and ended up burning it. They were taking so long with the pictures I had time to make some more. It went well. Mari's play went well and we watched the game when we got home.
Mari's play is going well. She is a natural and fun to watch. There is talk of a DVD being available. Mari keeps telling us that they had a hard time casting because the talent pool was so deep. I think the directors are being kind. They definitely have some strong members of the cast but there are others . . . let's just say they could have used Hyrum. We get to go again tomorrow night. Mari has had a lot of support from the family and neighborhood. We are looking forward to getting back to a boring routine. Mom has done a great job with the costumes. It has been fun to say "We saw that dress getting worked on a few hours ago."
We are excited to hear about your teaching pool and how things are going in your new Ward. Keep doing what is in your control and miracles will happen.
Love,
Dad

Sweet Eve,
I'm so happy you got to have lunch with Grandma and Grandpa Barlow. What a special blessing for you! Andrea Sligting was telling me how Harrison had a similar "Tender Mercy" experience while he was on his mission in France. His grandparents had planned their trip well ahead of time and he just happened to be in Paris at the same time as them. Andrea said Harrison also felt that Heavenly Father was blessing him and reminding him that He loved him. I hope you feel Heavenly Father's love for you too. Your birthday dress looks so cute too!
I must say that I'm so glad this week is over. It was a crazy week. I don't do well without sleep. Between Mari's late shows and Hyrum's early morning Seminary, we didn't sleep much. Monday is Mari's last show. It's been a good time. She LOVES it and has grown close to the people in the cast. On the other hand, because of my "costume" assignment, I've had to stay after and clean the dressing rooms each night. Luckily there are others who stay and help because otherwise it would take forever. These teens take so long to vacate the dressing rooms because after each show, they like to go and mingle with their adoring fans from the audience (in costume), taking pictures, receiving flowers and praise. The problem is that they have to leave their costumes in the dressing room overnight, so we can't clean the dressing rooms until they've changed back into street clothes. I'm not complaining (well maybe a little) but I am glad this whole "Costume Designer" job is almost done. It's a good thing I love Mari and I like theater and I love spending time with Youth...otherwise, no bueno!
This week at school I will be teaching the "Early Age" time period. I've decided to focus on the musical instruments of the Bible. It's been interesting to learn what a 'Shofar" (a ram's horn), tabrets and timbrels (tambourines), cymbals, bells, trumpets (made with a single piece of metal), reed pipes (like ancient recorders with a reed mouthpiece- like an oboe), lyre (like a harp), flute, psaltery (instrument with many strings played by the bow-each string is a different pitch instead of fingered), and viol (like an early cello). One day I hope to have real examples of each of these instruments. I would love to hear how they sound.
Stake Conference was today. A few themes were apparent: Everyone needs a current temple recommend (youth included), we need to know the Savior better so we can be prepared to meet Him. It was a great conference. We watched it over zoom. Trevor was with us. I invited him to stay and watch it with, us and he did! To make it fun, I got out the Legos and set out treats. I heard him ask Mari what General Conference was. She did a beautiful job explaining it. I hope Trevor felt loved and safe this weekend. It was great to have him here.
Hyrum got asked to Girl's Pref today. He was giggling. He couldn't believe he got asked the day after Homecoming! He was asked by a girl from Madrigals. So cute! He didn't watch Stake Conference with us because he went to a friend's farewell. He's been so busy with his different friend groups that we haven't seen much of him...I'm so happy that he's having fun!
Anyway, I can't wait to hear about your week. It's always so fun to talk to you. You are a special person!
I LOVE YOU!!!
Mom
