3/1/22 I < 3 Grand Forks

 Hey! My apologies for not warning last week, but today's my pday! They changed our pday on transfer week to Tuesday to give us one more day to be focused in our area! 


We had a great week!  Lets starts with some stories

Friday was Mission Leadership Council (MLC)  and we were all meeting in Bismarck for this one. Since I'm a solo STL in GF the Grand Forks Sisters drove me to Fargo and I carpooled with the Fargo STL's to Bismarck! We were able to start the journey on Thursday morning because we had to be in Bismarck by 5pm to attend the temple. 
AH the Temple. I realize how privileged I have been to be able to attend the temple so many times on my mission. It was a beautiful experience and if you live close to a temple PLEASE go! Go often! I wish I would've gone more frequently as a youth before covid. But I love the temple and I know God loves all of you! 
MLC was the next morning and it was very spirit led.  We just shared more insights to the mission's new vision and expectations that are now set. I'm so grateful for the Camp's for being such inspired leaders here. 

ROOTSTECH- is this week I believe. I signed up for it, but since it's not the best use of my time I haven't logged into any session. But a cool new feature is that you can find "cousins" who have also signed up for RootsTech. As I found this feature I started finding these people on Facebook who I am related to and messaging them! So far only a few short conversations have happened. But yesterday I got a message from a woman oh whom I didn't know haven't messaged yet. She explained that she was baptized a few months ago and is starting to organize her family history, and on her map of ancestors in RootsTech participants I was one of the 4 bubbles that popped up. She then goes on and shares how she lives in New York and she is super good friends with Sister Missionaries that are in her area. She is working on preparing on attending the temple so that she can attend in May! I messaged her back and welcomed her to the family and told her that she has a lot of member family in Utah and who are super happy she has found the joy of the restored gospel. We kept messaging after that. I think that of all the people she could've found, she had to find  found a Sister missionary who she is related to! but MAN I'M SO EXCITED FOR HER! We were able to connect just by being family and she is so excited to know she has family of our faith! wohooooooooo 

My studies have been all over the place this week. Yesterday I was studying in Alma chapter 26. This whole chapter is about Ammon glorifying in God. Boasting in God if you will.. But what I love is the continual theme that our joy is fullest when it is in God. We can have temporary joys but the lasting joy is found in God. He shows us this through our families and through our studies and our worship for him. 

This verse of my favorite hymn has been going through my head this week 

"I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine

to rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine,

That he should extend his great love unto such as I,

Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify.

Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me

Enough to die for me!

Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful to me!"


Really how cool is it that we have a loving father, who lives in Heaven, who is so invested in our lives. He really is the master author of our lives. He is so invested in our progression! 

I sure love you all! Sorry this weeks email is a bit shorter than normal. But I love all of you! 

ooop and with transfers I'M STAYING IN GRAND FORKS! I knew it would happen just because it's my last transfer ;( But I am so glad I get one more transfer here! God is so good!

Hey Hey Hey! We had a fun week! *Happy Birthday Sister Matthews!* Along with cowboys, Aberdeen is flooded with Karen people! It's close to Korean but it is pronounced "Ka-Riin" but they are the nicest people! We got a referral for a lady named June and was told she worked at one of the Karen Asian Markets in town so each day we hit another one to see if we can find her. No luck this week but with each store we go to I try a new food. I found that I love Aloe Water- so gooood and that Durian flavored anything is of the devil. AH IT'S SO BAD! I like most food but that is #1 in the worst foods ever created .  We lost a member of the ward to Covid-19 this last week. We had a funeral at the church and us missionaries helped out. What a crazy time to be alive. It was a tender service but as we were sitting I was just thinking about the second coming. I really think it's a lot closer than we think. 3/22/21 - TANG

The best feeling in the world is feeling the Spirit testify through you.    We met with Jana this week and we talked about a future date for baptism! It'll be a few years but she told us "Even if it takes a few years it will be worth the wait". I need more faith in people. I meet a lot of people everyday and they want nothing to do with our message. Then we find people like Jana or Nicole and I just sit in amazement in how the Spirit has been preparing this and it is not a temporary want. I most likely won't be a missionary when Jana is baptized but I will come back to witness it. We moved onto the topic of Temples and the importance of it and she shared how she was reading about the three kingdoms and how she only wanted to be in the top (Celestial). We talked about what we have to do to live there and she said "I can do that if that means I can live with Heavenly Father again". Isn't she precious?!
